The folks at Vineyard Central have nailed this one to a T…
“There’s a maxim that goes, “The medium is the message. Jesus doesn’t just give a message; he is the message. So as people who are involved deeply in the proclamation of good news, the “selves” we bring to others is radically important. So what are we bringing to the table?”
McLuhan tells us that a “message” is “the change of scale or pace or pattern” that a new invention or innovation “introduces into human affairs.” And he defines the medium as an extension of ourselves. So, our message comes directly out of who we are, what we are, where we have been, and what THAT says to others. Not just what we say. Our lifestyle, our very life, IS our message.
What message does your life send? What message does my life send? I hope I am good soil, not choked out by the worries of the world, not just quick to jump on the bandwagon only to fall off when the road gets a little bumpy, but one that perseveres until the end. One that bears good fruit. Fruit that is tasty, nourishing, satisfying. A little more Miracle-Gro and water over this way….
