I subjected myself to this film, God only knows why. My heart literally hurts after watching this.
This look back in time, to a place and culture bordering on the stone age, is horrific.
The horrific part is that these attitudes lay within the grasp of each one of us, man and woman, they are part of the common baggage we all carry as human beings in a fallen world. We are not so far away from this.
We must remember Jesus words. “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”
For us to look at this, cluck our tongues, and shake our heads at such barbarism is to miss the point entirely.
We are looking in the mirror, and what we really don’t like are the attitudes and actions we see that defile us from within. The voice of Truth, which says that gossip, and hatred, and a harsh glance is as murder.
Yes, after watching this, I have to pray for myself, my neighbors, and the villages across the world where this takes place. Father forgive them, forgive us.
This is still happening. Today.
