When you think of Duck Dynasty, think “ZZ Top goes feral”.
Duck Commander, Duck Dynasty, GQ… holy smokes, ole Phil set the world on its ear, and ruffled a few skirts in the process.
Life is not neat, clean and politically correct. It shouldn’t be, that’s what gives all of that bland middle ground some taste, some spice, flavor.
Jesus said we are the salt of the earth. Salt heals, cures, preserves, and adds flavor.
It also burns like crazy when it gets in an open wound, though not for long if you let it do its work.
So if the Truth hurts, let the healing begin.
The bible is an honest history of the journey of mankind, the good, the bad, and the ugly. But we shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that the retelling of “our” story in any way means that all of what was done along the way was good, righteous. Like polygamy, concubines, selling children, killing another man for his wife, etc.
We have to be careful when handling the Truth, it’s a sharp blade that cuts in every direction. All will be cut, all bleed.
It is not politically correct, and is sure to offend the sensibilities of almost all of us at some point in our lives. If we are lucky, blessed. And truth is often misrepresented as hate.
No, Phil is not perfect, he too is only human. But he very accurately spoke the truth, and in the telling will bleed.
Everyone who clings to the Truth will bleed, and in that sense has died.
