Now when Jesus approached and saw the city, he wept over it, saying,”If you had only known on this day, even you, the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.
For the days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and surround you and close in on you from every side.
They will demolish you- you and your children within your walls- and they will not leave within you one stone on top of another because you didn’t recognize the time of your visitation from God.”
Jesus wept because the inhabitants of Jerusalem didn’t know the things that make for peace. They didn’t see, or know He who is our peace. He wept because they couldn’t see what terrible things lay ahead, the destruction of the Temple, Jerusalem, and so many dead or in exile.
Nineveh recognized the time of its visitation, and was spared.
The Gentiles recognized the Incarnation of Christ, and for Millenia carried the Good News to the ends of the World.
The time of The Gentiles is rapidly coming to a close.
But the First will be last. The Jews will finally recognize Him, and when that happens, tighten your skates. It’s all about to get very real.
